Building and deploying a serverless AI model


In this article I will demonstrate the workflow for creating an AI model from scratch and then deploy it serverless in the cloud. It will be slightly technical but the amount of code is quite small. I will show you all the steps required to go from an EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) on Google Colab to serving a deployed AI model with AWS Lambda and Google Cloud Functions.

Following a strong growth in e-commerce, Norway Post and Bring are now making major investments in what will be Norway’s largest fully automated warehousing solution.

This new warehousing solution, together with new digital solutions and automated processes, will take care of all logistics from the moment the customer presses the buy button in the online store up until the item is delivered. The parcels will be picked up and delivered to online retailers throughout Eastern Norway until nine o’clock in the evening.

This creates a large demand for automation and in 2020 TIQQE was chosen to be Bring Warehousing’s Integration partner.

Bring looked for a partner who will be able to work together with them on their journey, and that can provide help and support when and where it will be needed. This is where TIQQE comes in.

Anomaly detection overview


Anomaly detection is the notion of automatically looking at data and finding outliers, i.e. data points that do not fit in well with the rest of the dataset. Finding an outlier is usually a sign that something exceptional has happened that should trigger further investigations or actions. Anomaly detection can be performed on existing historical datasets e.g. when you are pre-processing your AI training data. It can also be used on a real time data stream from your business transactions or sensor readings to almost instantly flag a data point as anomalous. This is a great example of AI automating things that a human can do and with a glance at a graph see a problem.
In this article Torbjörn will discuss anomaly detection from a few different perspectives and with this new tool under your belt you will start to look at the world with different eyes!

AI shows what an avocado armchair looks like


OpenAI is an AI research company. They are probably most famous for their language model GPT-2 that allegedly was “too dangerous to be shared”. They soon released an even better model, GPT-3. This latest model was then used as the basis for training an AI called DALL-E to generate images from textual descriptions.
Using text-image pairs as a training dataset this model is able to combine unrelated concepts into plausible images of things that never actually existed.

Market Outlook 2021 part 1


We have entered the last month of the first quarter of 2021.

In this blog we would like to share what we are seeing in the market and what we predict for 2021. Prediction is always difficult and depends on where you are getting your data from, but we are looking at what we are hearing within the market, from customers, potential customers, and of course market analysis.

In the Swedish market since 2007 there has been a shift of IT-spend moving from central IT to business IT, and this year we see a reversal where business IT spend is moving back to central IT. We usually see this during a recession but now we are seeing this from the effect of Covid and the impact it has had on the market.

What happens when moving from Business IT to Central IT is that we are going from decentralized to centralized IT-Spend. The challenges that this creates is that the organizations have data across the business which increases the risks of security breaches, GDPR implications etc.

The question this raises is, what need will this generate in the market? And what we are seeing is a large uprise of needs for integration and security. Now when the trend is to centralize we need to of course enable control of the data and know where it is and most importantly that it’s secure.

At TIQQE we are amongst the market leaders within integration and work closely with many of our customers within this area. We develop our integrations which technically are state of the art but not dependent on expensive hardware, licenses, upgrade projects and most importantly you can get started straight away.

Time series classification use cases


A time series is an ordered sequence of numbers over time. For certain problems you want to look at a specific time series and from its characteristics be able to say something clever about it. Perhaps its origin or about some feature of the source.
This is a class of problems called time series classification that Torbjörn will discuss in this article, and when you start looking for them they pop up absolutely everywhere!

We are proud to welcome ClearOn as a new customer to TIQQE. Clearon have decided to move their applications and infrastructure to AWS.

ClearOn promotes sales through smart campaigns and is a major developer of payment services and retail cash register services. Their focus is to offer services that create more value at checkout, and that increase in-store sales. They do this in close cooperation with the retail trade, suppliers and banks online with 5000 shops in their innovative system.

ClearOn have decided to move their infrastructure to AWS. When looking for a supplier, Clearon wanted to find a partner with extensive experience and are specialized within AWS.

They also looked for a partner who would be able to work together with them on their cloud journey and provide help and support when and where it would be needed.

AWS Lookout for Vision goes GA


A few days ago AWS announced General Availability for their service Lookout for Vision. This is an AI service that provides image based anomaly detection in manufacturing using computer vision. With basically no need for AI knowledge this service can be quickly implemented in your manufacturing process to detect product anomalies and defects at a low cost.
Torbjörn will also describe a cool real-world use case for this service!
